Idaho Montana wolf hunts as of 1/31/12

Idaho tally so far this year 269. Montana tally so far 145. I am suprised how many more are getting killed in Idaho compared to Montana.

Does Montana allow trapping? That side of the Idaho take has been increasing over the last three weeks as trappers are re-learning how to trap wolves.

Idaho non-res tags are $31 Montana's are around$350. Montana must kinda like their wolves.

So, no trapping in Montana. As of today there have been 273 wolves taken in Idaho, 62 by trapping. I also think our population is much higher than Montana's. Most areas that are still open are not close to the quota, so much for the predicted "slaughter" by the pro wolf factions. Once again Idaho is showing that it can properly manage the wolf population. There are several areas where there is no quota, hopefully there will be some serious control actions taken in those (helo gunning), but I think (and I could be wrong!) that there are some issues with our F & G folks flying in whirly birds right now due to a recent fatal crash.
