Pure peanut oil at Safeway
I needed to get some new, pure peanut oil for my deep fryer and turkey fryer, and I struck out at all of the places where I've bought it in the past. GI Joes and Fisherman's Marine only had a blend of peanut oil (with other oils such as corn oil). GI Joes price was $49.00 for a 3-gallon jug of this peanut/corn oil blend! The only oil at Sportsman's Warehouse was cottenseed oil. Home Depot only had a blended oil too, and Winco didn't have any kind of peanut oil. I was beginning to think that there is a shortage of peanut oil.
I had given up, but on the way home I stopped by Safeway for some groceries. I've never noticed peanut oil at Safeway (never looked for it), but when I checked the aisle where the cooking oils are located, there on the bottom shelf were 1 gallon jugs of 100% pure peanut oil for only $13.99 per gallon!

Yea, the stuff can be very hard to find. I look for it in every grocery store I go in. The only oil I use for frying any more.

Home Depot, of all places, sells it where the BBQ equipment is. I also saw some at Costco.

The Home Depot in Gresham has the peanut oil/corn oil blend - not 100% pure peanut oil. Maybe some of the Home Depots carry the pure stuff?

Next time you're in Gresham, you might check United Grocers outlet on Division about 198th.

Another place to look if you can't find it would be the Cash and Carry stores. There's 1 at 170th and TV hwy, and 1 behind the Chevron on 99 at 217. Just remember take $CASH$ money.

I think they changed the name from United Grocers to Cash and Carry.

Fred Meyer carries Lou-Ana brand peanut oil. It is $41.89 for 3 gallon container. Comes out to $13.96 a gallon

OK so now that I have the peanut oil, and use it for the turkey, how do I store it and what is the shelf life, after usage?

You want to keep it in an airtight container. Keep it in the fridge for about 6 months. If it is unopened it'll keep for about a year. You can freeze it too... it may keep for a few months longer that way. You can filter and re-use peanut oil 3-4 times.. just gotta keep an eye on it... if it starts to foam.. or obviously smokes more than it should. You should throw it out.
