Re: Thingamabobbers
I am sure they do. If not Royal Treatment in West Linn is only a mile or so from there.

Yes he has them but keeps them in an isolated area of the store and won't readily admit he even carries them.

If you can't find them, get whatchlmacallits. They are just as effective and costs less.

I don't blame him. One nympher finds out, and there goes the neighborhood.
One day it's all Chianti and Brie, and the next it's all corn dogs and Busch.

Glad to hear there's another source! I was having a hard time finding them.

No way. This is not true is it? He sells the product but keeps it hidden like he is selling some black market crap. So stupid.
I have some friends that laugh when they see thingamabobbers but yet they use yarn indicators. What the heck is the difference? Who cares? I think if one wants to take a stand against the thingamabobbers they better be a person who does not use any type of strike indicator. Then they at least have a place to stand. Every time I hear someone who is anti strike indicators it makes me want to fish them even more, however I hate nymphing so that does not happen much. If you toss a strike indicator good for you, have fun.

Exactly! Who cares? It's laughable seeing people get all defensive about using them. I wouldn't exactly call it fly fishing but more like bobber and jig fishing with a fly rod.It is legal and ethical and that is what counts.
Now pegging a trout bead is a different story but that is for another thread.

Re: Thingamabobbers
I think thingamabobbers rock. I put on a nymph let it drift through NO snags, but when it is not on I snag and loose lots of flies. I lost three flies in the period of 15 minutes on under water logs and branches!!!!

Using a toothpick to fix the bead above the hook. It's for trout fishing or for trout fishing for Steelhead. Pretty effective.

Re: Thingamabobbers
kinda unnecessary being someone was asking about thingamabobbers and not what you thought about them .not everyone likes to fish the same way and thats cool, its all fly fishing and its all fun..no reason to categorize everyone into a little clique or rip on a certain technique i wish more people would agree . what if someone posted a thread about a spey setup then i commented and said why would you want a spey rod? spey fishing is for rich snobs and swinging flies is stupid anyways. (i dont feel this way about spey fishing i am just using this as an example) would be kind of mean and immature+ a hijack just like this. even if it is a joke i dont find it funny. nobody can fish these days without being judged even if it's a honest to god complete clean, ethical and legal way to fish.
its just like being a kid in school, the the case of the "popular kid" versus the loner, the nerd or the fat kid. i thought once i got out of school and everyone started growing up they would mature but i can see now i was wrong, some people still act as if they were 12. end rant.

Re: Thingamabobbers
It all comes down to the guy holding the rod, not the type of rod in a guys hands...

Not really. I've nymphed up some pretty small fish with 10mm beads with a 4" gap from the hook.

Re: Thingamabobbers
Be sure to pick up different sizes, some people have a hard time getting the line to turn over with a large float ..
Also, ill start a new thread for using trout beads, it sounds like it could be a really good and informative discussion

Re: Thingamabobbers
I use them and used to have annoying issues with it sliding down the leader putting it on the way they direct.
To fix that I either do what the float guys do and tie on two bobber stops (one above and one below the bobber) if I know I'm going to use it for a while or, do as they show on the directions but instead of on the leader I put it on the tip of the fly line.
