Default Fawns

Anyone see any yet? I saw 3 does tonight that looked like they were about ready to birth at any time.

We saw three adult does in the Maury unit on Saturday. Stood and looked at us in the open at about 40 yards. Either they were not carrying, or are a ways from birthing, which would mean they were not bred during the first estrus cycle.

Watching a cow and a calf right now, hoping to be a hero and save them from the big bad bear.

I havent seen any yet. Probably seen 10-15 pregnant does in the last week though. My resident does in my backyard havent dropped yet and their yearlings are still with them. They had babies by this time last year. I watch for them each day.

Saw a newborn blacktail out with mama the last week of May. I'm also seeing lone does hanging around cover, leading me to believe that the fawns are stashed nearby.

I saw a BT fawn this afternoon outside of Ruch in southern Oregon. It was so new it was still wet from the post-birth tongue cleaning. Very late fawn, I hope he/she makes it.
