You beat me to it.
I'm going out to clean the garage & see how many I can come up with.
I could take a few quided trips if I find enough of them.
Someone came up with a supply of rare ones for sure.

I only paid a guy $20 for 20 okies here on Ifish a couple months ago. Maybe I should "flip" them on eBay.

The current market on Okies will no doubt crash.Only a handful of serious buyers willing to pay that kind of money. What was thought to be a limited supply is just not the case any longer.

These kinds of battles on eBay are nothing new. It's the collectors that drive the prices up, along with those who just think it must be something good since everyone is bidding on it. Some of those folks will drive the price up because they'll bid until they get it. Then there are those who sneak in and bid something up for their buddy. If it looks like it's too much to you, then it probably is.

I just looked and it is now down to $227, looks to me like bids were retracted, maybe someone is artificially trying to drive up the cost!

I don't get why Luhr Jenson doesnt resurrect these. Or at least Brads dosen't make them in bigger sizes. They are great drift bobbers that actually float. Love em. I notice its getting harder to find spindrifters ( aka: Birdy drifters ) too . I wonder if danielson is closing them out.

Buck,

Each, ha, Not for sale. But for 20 each I could be in the selling market!

Lets see now, 200x$20.00=$4,000.00. Ya, I'd do that for ya. But, only if it makes you happy. Me? I'd cry all the way to the bank.

Heck, there was one lot with just 10 in it that sold for $251...more than $25 EACH, for Okies...REALLY? For what it's worth, I have heard they are SLAMMING some nice steelhead on these up on the OP rivers... you know there had to be a reason they are in such demand.

Nice job Jake, so you are fishing them, do you lose many? I would cry if i lost as many as i lose fishing corkies!

And what what on earth makes them worth $17 each in your mind?

I have a fairly extensive collection so i can apreciate the desire but lately it is a bit extreme, then again i catch way more fish on corkies and eggs, maybe okies are your go to bait?

Again nice fish and collection!

I got inspired by this post. On the shelf are 100+ pale yellow/gold Okies that I'd pretty much forgotten about. A little work with permanent felt-tip markers transformed them. I like the markers.....they seem to stain the plastic and preserve the translucence.
These guys are going back into the rotation.

Yes of course im fishing them. I fished this weekend with them. Didnt lose one from two days of fishing.. And caught fish on the same one. You have to know what to use and how to fish your lure.
Honest right here. If you know when, where, and how to fish them.. They would out fish anything. I'd bet money on it..

I'll post a few more pics to show why they are worth so much money.

Yes please do, i drift fish 90 percent of the time and feel im pretty proficient at it, quite possibly the fish here just dont prefer them, my go to bait is a single size 10 corkie, no yarn or anything usually. Run a okie nada, run a corkie fish on, maybe the smallest okies are just a little too large or the fish just dont love em. Not sure but would love to have you pitch your okies!

Oh and i have to fish snaggy rivers and loose 15 plus rigs in 5 hrs of fishing! Pretty par for the course here in southern oregon i feel

I fly fish my local rivers for summer steelhead. Then from october until april i'm on the OP with my boat or on foot.

I've never fished the southern oregon rivers. I know that some of the rivers on the OP where i go are pretty darn snaggy. I definatly use a different weight system than most people use. Barely ever lose an okie, even on the really snaggy rivers..

How can you tell the difference between the originals and knock offs? I had a small bag of them in my steelhead gear a fews years ago and was fishing with a part time guide on the Alsea and he offered me a bag of used plugs for them. At the time I thought I made a screaming deal, not so sure now....

I still have a few left and was curious how to tell the difference.

No expert but i have learned a bunch and i can share what i know.

Maxwell was the original manufcturer. Maxwell made both transparent and solid color okies. They then sold to luhr jensen in 1975. Somewhere in time they added the letters to the okies, they say "okie". i have old maxwells in package that have no letters, i also have luhr jensens with the letters. I have both clear Transparent colors with and without letters, hard to tell when the letters came in time and by who.

If i had to guess luhr jensen added the letters and not maxwell.

Somewhere in the 80's the hard plastic okies stopped and they were made out of foam, thye dont say okie on them and have a vertical seam and not a horizontal seam.

These stopped some time in the 90's.

Then brads started the orkie.

Not sure what people mean when they say knockoff unless they are referring to the foam, luhr jensen made the foam okies and both luhr jensen and maxwell made hollow hard plastic okies.

Hope this helps.

Kind of like gold prices.. You can hear that bomb ticking quietly..

I see a lot of auctions asking for that kind of money, but none of them are getting that. The average seems to be around 1-1.5 a piece, with the exception of 1 auction getting 3 bucks a piece. Big difference between asking and getting.

Here's an example of what we are talking about. Take a look. I wish I still had the couple hundred I sold a few years back.

Or this one

Or these that were won by the kid that uses them to fish the OP rivers.

Here's My pre-Luhr Jensen Okie Spinner.

Luhr Jensen bought Grizzly and then discontinued the Okie as it didn't sell well outside the PNW. Sad day that was.

Don't believe everything you read on eBay. Just because an auction has closed does not mean it has been completed. I'm sure some of these are legit but would bet some aren't.

anything in pearl finishes goes $1-$2+ each.....the rest usualy .50 a piece.

I buy the off colors and nail polish em....did quite well this weekend on a few lots.

The best score was the guy who got a lot of 260 for $32 this weekend.

I sold 30 on there last week for 200. Might just put a few more up. Too bad I gave 50 to Herzog..
