I want to cure some shrimp, but I don't want to buy the premade cures. I want a basic recipe to work with that I can customize a bit to my liking. Does anyone have a basic set of ingredients and instructions or know where I could find them?
Must be put in correcft order for best color
1/2 gallon water
dye as needed (I use bad azz bait dye)
shrimp let soak for 10 minutes.
1 cup sugar
2 cups sea salt (purchase at albertsons or other grocery store)
Now add anything you want for scent.
Rob has some secret cured purple **** shrimp for the Columbia trib steelhead fishery, just bought myself a supply as they caught a lot of fish last summer.
One of the best pre cured baits i've purchased for any type of fishing to say the least.
What works best for me and catches lots of fish is just plain sea salt. Layer in a tupperware containerwith layers of shrimp, then generous portions of sea salt and more layers of shrimp and sea salt.
I noticed that Sportsman's had shrimp in a brine. Does anyone use a brine method to cure shrimp?
